Hard bituminous coal

Brown coal, cheaper equivalent of hart bituminous coal, is extracted usually at opencast mine. Its carbon concentration is far smaller than anthracite’s or hard bituminous coal’s. Moistness can reach even 55% so it is hard to transport on long distance. Brown coal is imported from mine around Konin than it is loaded on train in special containers to protect it from water ( it causes coal to granulate and becomes hard lump). Energy possessed from this coal can reach from ten to twenty thousand mega joules. It is mainly used in power industry. Power plants in Konin and Bełchatów use this coal as main fuel transformed to electric energy. If stored indoors and kept dry brown coal can be easily used as a fuel in central heating in single houses. More over temperature in a store room cannot drop below zero degrees of Celsius otherwise coal may freeze.
