Blast Furnace Coke

Blast furnace coke is produced in coking plant that is usually located near the place coke will be transported to, like smelting plants or iron works places, to produce and smelt iron and some others. Blast furnace coke is transported in special containers, it is different from stabilised coke by size of its lump. When used in metallurgy has to be much bigger in size because they have big furnace.

Blast furnace coke is formed in similar way as other kinds of coke by Heating up coal to high temperatures. Thanks to high temperatures most other substances, like water, sulphur, or air are released, so final product is more calorific. Blast furnaces are far more delicate than stoves we have at home. Because of very high temperatures that are in them any bit of water will evaporate in no time. In Częstochowa in August 2008 small amount of water blew up to pieces hole blast furnace where they were smelting scrap metal.
